Camp Tesomas 2025 – Rhinelander, Wis.

Summer camp was in the Northwoods of Wisconsin by the bogs and lakes North of Rhinelander, Wisconsin. Our third year back as a troop and we had the Tower Ridge campsite to ourselves. Nuke ’em was an ongoing hit at the volleyball net and a big game of capture the flag that spread out over the entire activity area. Merit badges including fishing, swimming, basketry, painting, sculpture, wilderness survival, sports, rifle shooting, first aid, climbing, movie making, environmental science, bird study, insect study, mammal study, fish and wildlife, and soil and water conservation were taken and completed. We even had a scout finish the mile swim (more like mile and a half, though…).

Adult scouters also had a great time earning their Geezer Badge and Scavenger Hunt Pin and providing service to the camp. One of our own also completed the Safe Swim Defense, Paddle Craft Safety, Swimming and Water Rescue, and Safety Afloat courses!

Grant’s Pilgrimage – Galena, Ill.

Once again we headed out west to the Blackhawk Council’s Grant’s Pilgrimage event in the beautiful city of Galena. There was history, a Civil War battle reenactment, wandering generals and lots of steps. This year we also had the best weather in recent history!

Let’s hit the town. I hear there is root beer there!

Congratulations to our two Golden Feather award winners for 2025 – Chris Nygren and Doug Tittman. Thank you both for all you do!

DuPage Forest Preserve’s Urban Stream Research Center

Our polar bear camp involved a fantastic trip to the Urban Stream Research Center at Blackwell Forest Preserve. We are now a fan of the fresh water mussel and was got a behind the scenes tour of the center’s efforts to local wildlife. Thank you Jenny for a great tour!

We also had our polar bear camp and cooked over a wood fire and camped in temperatures below 32 F. Good times!

Cabin camping at Camp Long Lake was enhanced by a day on the slopes with tubing and skiing on a crystal clear day!

Cobia Submarine Campout

We spent the night on the Cobia Submarine in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. After a tour and some history, we found our bunks and had a great night. Thanks to the staff of the Maritime Museum!
